Sciatica can be very painful, and it’s impossible to completely relieve pain without any type of medication, but there ARE some non-medication things you can try that can help:
Ice- if you’ve injured it within the last 48-72 hours, ice is most effective.
Heat- if it’s been more than 48 hours, and heat feels better, go with it
Physical therapy- very effective with sciatica, your doctor can refer you
Chiropractor- again, get the name of a good one from your doctor
Massage- I get bi-weekly massage when mine’s acting up
Then there are different medications you can try:
If you hate pills, there’s always topical creams like Icy-Hot or Ben-gay
Over-the-counter meds such as Advil or Aleve, which help the inflammation
Prescription muscle relaxants
Prescription pain medications
